So my family and I have been watching this amazing show called Frozen Planet. This show has inspired me to research narwhals (a.k.a. Unicorns of the Sea) and to sketch them. I actually know some people who don't know what narwhals are...and some people thought they were mythical creatures....
Some random narwhal facts:
-Their long horn is actually a tooth and is only found on the males
-Narwhals are what began the unicorn legend
-In Old Norse, narwal means "corpse whale"
-The Inuit people will actually hunt narwhals just for their tusk which is a good source of vitamin C

Page Pressed Flowers
I've always enjoyed page pressing flowers. It's a fun way to keep the flowers you love and take them with you wherever you go! Here's an easy tutorial on page pressing flowers.

Knitting News
So the latest thing I've knitted is a pillow! It's super fuzzy and soft (as you can probably tell). I still need to stuff it and sew it up but I think it'll be a nice little pillow.

Spring Awakening
Many of the beautiful trees in our yard are blossoming. Every year I take a picture of them at this stage. it's just so beautiful to see the trees awakening after their winter slumber.
Yesterday we found this little guy on our back patio. I just had to add a picture of him, due to his cuteness. He's a Red-Backed Salamander.

Iced Hot Chocolate
Iced Hot Chocolate
3 cups milk (I used coconut milk)
1 cup coffee (if you aren't a coffee fan, just add another cup of milk instead)
1 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1 Tablespoon vanilla
2 Tablespoons sugar (more if you like it real sweet)
A few cups of ice
Just like you would make normal hot chocolate, heat the milk in a pan on the stove (medium heat). Add all the other ingredients (minus the ice). Stir until all the sugar and cocoa powder are dissolved and everything is mixed. Then pour the liquid into a pitcher and stick it in the fridge for a few hours or more. If you are in a hurry, you can stick the pitcher in the freezer for a little while. Once the mixture is nice and cold, pour into a few glasses and add some ice cubes to keep it chilly. If you want to kick it up a notch, make chocolate ice cubes by simply putting the liquid into an ice tray. You could also make simple coffee ice cubes. This recipe makes just enough for 2.

Beneath Those Silent Eyes
Beneath Those Silent Eyes
I wonder what’s beneath those silent eyes
Is there affection within or is it all lies
That look in those eyes I once used to see
It’s no longer there, captivating me
The endearing look deep in your eyes
That appear like pools of sapphire ice
Seems to be as gone as yesterday
yet on my heart, you still heavily weigh
Has not your fondness died
with that charming old look in your eye
I’m dying to know what’s on your mind
when your unexpressive face you hide behind

It Feels Like Spring
It's beginning to feel a lot like spring time! I love this warm weather. Here are some pictures I took last spring with my cousin Rachel.
